Participate initiative - challenges and lessons learned
Numerous recommendations for policy makers and advocacy groups, on how to include the perspectives of people experiencing poverty and marginalisation in decision-making processes, came out of the Participate workshops. See here.
Some challenges encountered in the implementation of the Participate initiative include:
- Within the UN, narrow perception of participation as meaning consultations with Member States. True and meaningful participation of civil society has thus been hard to recognise and embed into policy
