Policy to Action
Background on Beyond 2015's Policy to Action work
In March 2015, the Beyond 2015 Executive Committee decided to recalibrate the focus of the Campaign from policy to action (see here). This means that Beyond 2015 decided to focus heavily on building political leadership for the implementation of the post-2015 agenda at the national level, aiming to ensure that the SDGs are translated into national development plans, and that people and their organisations are included in the implementation phase as early as possible.
Beyond 2015's ‘Policy to Action Program’ was based on three strategic pillars:
- Supporting civil society colleagues at the national level to work with their governments in building political leadership for implementation
- Working with the media to build political leadership for the Post-2015 Agenda
- Organising a high-level event during the UN Summit for the adoption of the Post-2015 agenda (September 2015) to present the implementation plan of a small number of pioneer countries
