The World We Want 2015
Defining a New Social Contract
Date: 4 September 2012
Place: Delta Hotel, Montreal, Canada
The 2012 CIVICUS World Assembly finds itself at a timely juncture to provide an inclusive convening space for civil society to engage with UN and other stakeholders, identify priorities, build strategies to strengthen citizen participation and create action plans for advocacy, campaigning and mass-mobilization in order to influence the post-2015 development agenda and related processes such as the UN high level panel on post-2015. Moreover, participants will discuss the Rio+20 outcomes that include the establishment of an intergovernmental process to develop global sustainable development goals, which will be coordinated and integrated into the UN post-2015 development agenda.
The Post-2015 Civil Society Conference will bring together some 150 leaders including social movements, INGOs, youth activists, UN, campaigns and communications professionals, as well as representatives of the academic community, trade unions, faith based organizations, women’s movements and organizations of the poor. The Conference will take the form of a post-2015 consultation in the morning supported by key UN representatives and diplomats followed by an afternoon civil society only session focused on campaign and mobilization strategy and action-planning across 2012/2013.
