CSO-led National Deliberations

See the interim synthesis of the outcomes documents from Beyond 2015 / GCAP / IFP national deliberations in 30 countries!

From September 2012 – October 2013, ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Beyond 2015 and GCAP working with the International Forum of NGO Platforms, will create a global civil society position on a post-2015 framework via a series of national civil society deliberations.

Small hubs are being organised at national level in order to convene these deliberations. National hubs are supported by a regional coordinator in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia. Because of the anticipated prominence of the process of intergovernmental negotiations, more focus will be given to the national hubs and national deliberations.

These national hubs aim to:

1. To create a civil society position on a post-2015 framework, which will be used as a lobbying tool at national and international level. In 2013, this position will focus on the conceptual foundations of the post-2015 framework: the vision, purpose, principles and criteria;
2. To create specific, concrete policy asks for national governments aiming at influencing their position on the post-2015 debate, and using these asks in an ongoing and concerted manner to engage with and influence governments;
3. To feed into the UN-led consultation process at national and international level;
4. To amplify the voices of people directly affected by poverty and injustice and their perspectives on a future global framework.

­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Beyond 2015 and GCAP have established national hubs in the following 30 countries which were selected according to specific criteria. Toolkit for National Deliberations

A key tool to organise these National Deliberations is the Toolkit produced by Beyond 2015, GCAP and the United Nations Millennium Campaign and which aims to help civil society organisations organise and facilitate such national deliberations.
